Electoral consequences of the HHS mandate

Our president and his cadre of managers of the nation’s collective life caused a political firestorm in late January. They ignored conscience objections of religious leaders and ordered Catholic schools, hospitals, and charities to amend by August 30, 2013 their healthcare plans to include birth-control services (among them abortion-inducing drugs and sterilization procedures) or be subject to millions of dollars in fines and penalties. This may lead to civil strife for the nation and political disaster in several key battleground states for Mr. Obama.

Michelle Obama Beats Fallon in White House Fitness Challenge

Michelle Obama and "Late Night" host Jimmy Fallon turned the White House into a playground to promote the first lady's "Let's Move!" fitness campaign. Mrs. Obama and Fallon did pushups and twirled hula hoops. They competed at dodge ball and tug-of-war. And the first lady triumphed over the comedian in a climactic potato sack race.

Pa. Vending Machine Dispenses 'Morning-After' Pill

Students at Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania can get the "morning-after" pill by sliding $25 into a vending machine, an idea that has drawn the attention of federal regulators and raised questions about how accessible emergency contraception should be. The student health center at Shippensburg, a secluded public institution of 8,300 students tucked between mountain ridges in the Cumberland Valley, provides the Plan B One Step emergency contraceptive in the vending machine along with condoms, decongestants and pregnancy tests.

Sebelius took one short question in the Press Club lobby on her department’s regulation before fleeing in her Suburban amidst a barrage of reporters' questions.

Inspired by Michelle Obama, Walmart Introduces ‘Healthier’ Food Logo, Plans to Track ‘Behavior Shift’

Shoppers in the grocery aisles of Walmart will soon see a new icon popping up on foods deemed healthier by the retail giant, which will also track how many of those items make it to the checkout counter. Corporate officials unveiled the “Great for You” icon at an event in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday. The new signage is part of a wider Walmart campaign, announced last year alongside First Lady Michelle Obama.

Appeals court throws out same-sex marriage ban
